RED EDEN is an upcoming science-fiction short film that asks: what world do we leave for those that come after us?

THE FILM

Thousands of years in the future, the A.I. Nong serves as the sole caretaker of a lush, terraformed Mars. Through a centuries-old recording from her creator, Dr. Dawan, Nong learns the mission is complete, but with a bitter twist: humanity has long since perished on a deteriorated Earth. Set free from her original programming, Nong must decide whether to remain a servant to a ghost species or evolve into something beyond her intended design.

Filmed in Thailand, RED EDEN is a timely short film exploring the convergence of nature and technology. It serves as a cautionary tale regarding the legacy we leave for future generations, told through the lens of a speculative future long after humanityโ€™s extinction. This story offers a quiet counterpoint to climate change and technological shifts, suggesting that our compassion and curiosity may endure through the A.I. we leave behind.

THE MESSAGE

As A.I. and climate change reshape our reality, RED EDEN aligns with vital conversations regarding environmental stewardship and the ethics of technology. The film challenges audiences to view A.I. not merely as a tool for servitude, but as a potential inheritor of our values, moving from a master-servant dynamic to one of parent and child. By interweaving a global collaboration between U.S. and Thai filmmakers, the project promotes an expansive understanding of grief, hope, and intergenerational continuity in a post-human world.
